Hello! I'm Peter

I'm an Engineer at Sage, where I've been since July 2021.

I initially joined as an Associate Developer, writing application code. I'm now in a more platform engineering/architectural role.

I'm a longterm user and lover of Linux. I settled on Arch Linux about three years ago and haven't had any temptation to distro-hop since.

I'm a tinkerer and tend to have a number of coding projects on the go!

I am founding Artistic Director of Opera dei Lumi, a group who focus on music of the Enlightenment period, with a particular emphasis on Mozart. I also conduct some groups in the region where I live.

As a performer, I've sort of specialised in the music of Mozart (though do other things too!). In a non-professional capacity, I'm a lover of contemporary classical music (whatever that term means), as well as jazz/rock fusions and/or prog rock.

Going back a fair while now, I did minor work as a music engraver/editor for publishing houses around Europe. These were done using SCORE.

For a long time I intended to do a PhD in musicology, but ultimately decided to change direction and go into tech.

I did my Master of Music as a research degree (rather than as a taught degree) in the tempo markings of Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro.

I've written bits and bobs and had smatterings of things published here and there. You can read a bit more about all that here.

Having grown up despising coffee, it turns out I actually love the stuff! Tasting specialty coffees of the world and playing with brewing methods and recipes is a bit of a hobby :)
